Kibera slums [PHOTO/standardmedia.co.ke]
We cannot run away from the fact that not every household in Kenya can afford a decent toilet.
People in Nairobi's slum areas have been using flying toilets to meet their physiological demands that 'privileged' Nairobians elsewhere spend too much in rent to meet.
The 'Kibera flying toilet' is nothing other than a polythene bag made to carry body wastes miles away from the person.
Unlike what the name suggests, they are used in any informal settlements and in areas people can afford only a little food and no toilets.
But what happens now that polythene bags have been banned?
Will people not resort to having flying cups or flying hands?
We wait and see.
