Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama is among the opposition leaders who will have to reconsider their footsteps in the political arena if National Super Alliance [NASA] fails to take over power as planned. The senator’s decision not to defend his seat despite having been given a direct nomination ticket left his political future uncertain.
The vocal politician is hopeful that the Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga and his running mate in the August General elections take over President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto in order for him to get a key appointment. If the plan fails, Muthama still has different options at his disposal.
To start with, he can choose to contest for any seat in Machakos. The former senator can go back to the people to defend their rights in the Senate or fight for governorship after the incumbent Dr. Alfred Mutua completes his second term in office.
The second possible move is crossing over to Jubilee. If the senator makes a political U-turn to join Jubilee then he is likely to start working with Mutua as they plot to decide the way forward for the Kamba nation when that time comes.
