The Nairobi County Assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi has rejected the nomination of Miguna Miguna as the Deputy Governor.

It remains unclear the candidate Sonko is likely to front for the post following the new move of the county assembly.

Earlier on, Nairobi Women Rep Esther Passaris had offered to deputize Sonko.

She said she has what it takes to replace Polycarp Igathe who resigned from the post citing irreconcilable differences with Sonko.

Passaris said that Sonko deserves someone better, adding that she was ready.

“I can only go there if I am given clear departments to run. I want environment, water, education and trade,” said Passaris.

"The governor needs a Deputy and if he cannot find one, then I am willing to take the position to help him,” she added.

The nomination of Miguna stirred a political storm in the county with the Jubilee top brass warning Sonko against the move.

No county boss has, however, ever been successfully impeached since the onset of devolution.
