Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta not to misuse state resources.
Ngilu, a former Land’s Minister, called upon Uhuru and other politicians to emulate Tanzanian President John Pombe Magufuli for the betterment of this nation’s economy.
She noted that it will be unfortunate for Kenyan leaders to waste public resources on unnecessary expenditures such as inauguration when the common mwananchi is languishing in abject poverty.
“Wastage is widespread in Kenya. You can imagine the amount of money the President will use in his inauguration instead of following the Magufuli example,” she said on Tuesday," as quoted by Star.
The county boss also promised to account for all the funds she receives from the national government during the next five years following her election into power.
The governor pledged to resolve the problem of water shortage in Kitui, which has been one of the dilemmas of the residents for decades by opening boreholes across the county.
“I am going to open all the 107 boreholes that have stalled due to minor issues, to ensure that people get water at their homes,” she said.
