Wiper Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka will be heartbroken if National Super Alliance (NASA) Leader Raila Amolo and President Uhuru Kenyatta settle for a coalition government. Kalonzo is banking on Raila’s presidency to ascend to power in 2022.
The opposition leader will have complicated matters for Kalonzo if he agrees to a power sharing deal. The former vice president has continued to face several political challenges since he started walking with Raila. Raila has, however, dismissed claims that he is scouting for a nusu mkate government.
"We are not interested in a ‘nusu-mkate’ government. We want the whole thing and we know we won the presidential polls and we will win this election very early. We cannot share power with thieves," noted Raila.
Kalonzo needs to be second in command as he prepares to rally the electorate behind his presidential bid. The Ukambani political kingpin has lost several allies because of various reasons.
Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua, Former Kitui Senator David Musila and Senator Omar Hassan are among the leaders who left Kalonzo a wounded man following their departure from Wiper. Kalonzo cannot afford to keep another wound.
