Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga together with his wife Mama Ida Odinga visited the family of the late Ken Matiba at their Karen home to condole with them, following his death on Sunday evening.
During the visit, Odinga met Deputy President William Ruto who had also visited to condole with the family.
Odinga asked the State to honour the late multiparty democracy leader, not just by burying him but also paying all that was due to him so that the family he leaves behind can know he did not fight in vain.
"Matiba was a gallant fighter of democracy whose light was a threat to an establishment that broke him down," Raila said on Tuesday.
"His immense impact on our society has spanned generations and as a country we thank him for his great sacrifice. Rest peacefully Kenneth Matiba."
Also present were Cabinet Secretaries who accompanied Ruto.
They condoled with the family saying: "May God comfort his family during this time."
