The last two months have been politically unforgiving for former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar. From suffering a humiliating defeat at the hands of Governor Hassan Joho to his resignation as Wiper secretary general and subsequent withdrawal from NASA coalition, Omar is a man under siege. At least for now, the vocal politician is banking on the petition he has filed challenging Joho's re-election to give him a political lifeline. But nonetheless, his political future is under serious threat.Since losing in the August 8 poll, Omar has opened many war fronts. From his sustained attacks on Joho, to Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and NASA leader Raila Odinga, the former Senator is creating more enemies than friends. It's however his relationship with Joho and Raila that may make or break him politically, and for him to dream of any political comeback, he must review his stance on the duo.Raila and Joho are both darlings of Mombasa and Coast region in general and Omar's hard-line stance towards the duo may only antagonize the electorate who may end up rejecting him. With 5 years remaining for him to rethink his political strategy ahead of the 2022 poll, the former senator should stop behaving like a bitter loser but instead assess his August 8 performance with a view to correcting any shortcomings in future.
