The country is preparing for an election.
The August 8, poll is expected to be one of the highly competitive elections in the history of the Kenya.
Jubilee is determined to retain power while the opposition is engaging politicians from all circles to join it and give the ruling coalition leadership a run for its money.
When the IEBC launched the last Mass Voter Registration, this is what opposition leaders had to tell Kenyans:
RAILA ODINGA
There are over 1 million eligible Kenyans who have not registered to vote in Nairobi.
It is imperative that as many Kenyans as possible register to express their democratic choice in the forthcoming elections.
Take a moment today and pass by your local IEBC registration center with your original ID to ensure your voice is heard on August 8th, 2017.
GIDEON MOI
I encourage each of you to exercise your most important right as Kenyan citizen, your Constitutional right to be registered as a voter.
It's your vote, your right and your responsibility. God bless you and God bless Kenya.
HASSAN JOHO
In order to participate in the August 8, 2017 elections and choose a government that represents our hopes and aspirations, we have to take full advantage of the ongoing second and final Mass Voter Registration by IEBC and register as voters.
Our future and that of generations to come, will deteriorate to unprecedented levels if the status quo remains the same.
I, therefore, urge the residents to take their destiny into their own hands by acquiring their voters' cards and ensuring that they are not left out in the IEBC registration exercise which ends on February16, 2017.
This time like never before we must ensure that fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, relatives, friends, neighbors and ourselves are registered as voters.
The moment to choose a government that is sensitive and responsive to plight of Kenyans, will eliminate corruption, deal with historical injustices, social justice and respect to human rights beacons.
