Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has said repeatedly that he will contest for the nation’s top seat in 2022. Kalonzo is likely to be among the biggest losers if NASA boycotts the election.

Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga has maintained that he will only take part in the election if the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) meet opposition’s demands.

Despite insisting that he will not boycott the exercise, rumors continue doing rounds over the same with some of the leaders issuing strong messages ahead of the fresh election.

While in Kajiado, Raila said: "I did not say we will boycott elections. We can't boycott elections. I said they should not try to use the military to rig elections.”

The leader of the opposition has also claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy want to cling to power. If this happens then matters will be more complicated for Kalonzo.

“We know what President Uhuru is planning, to be a life president. They want the Jubilee compliant judges and governors so that they can have their way. They even sponsored petitions against non-compliant governors. Uhuru is in office by fraud and not by the mandate of the people of Kenya,” Mr Odinga said, as quoted by Nation.
