The burial ceremony of the late seasoned politician William ole Ntimama began in pomp and colour for Cord leader Raila Odinga but the ending was far from it.

Raila's electrifying speech which was perhaps buoyed by his entry that was filled with wild cheers. Towards the end of the ceremony, the event took a gross political showdown after Raila and Uhuru traded words making the otherwise joyous occasion sad.

President Kenyatta had made the now famous comment, "kumeza mate si kukula nyama (he who salivates, does not necessarily eat the meat)".

Keen observers were smart to note that while the rest of the mourners rose up as it is routine after the head of state’s address, Mr Odinga remained seated.

The old routine of rising up after an address by the President is not mandatory but has been entrenched around the world as a routine gesture of respect.

Mr Odinga’s colleague and Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who was upstanding, was seen bending over and whispering something to the ODM presidential contender.
