Maraga called for a fresh on citing breach of the Constitution on the part of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission. Maraga and NASA Presidential candidate Raila Amolo Odinga share different things in common. Here are some of the things we noted Raila shares with the Chief Justice.
They attended Maranda High school
Both Maraga and Raila attended Maranda High School. The CJ in 1968 enrolled for O level education for East African School Certificate at Maranda High School before he went to Kisii High School for East African Advanced Certificate. Raila joined Maranda High School from Kisumu Union Primary School
They hold Law degrees from University of Nairobi
Raila obtained an honorary degree Law degree from the University of Nairobi in 2008. Maraga studied law at the University of Nairobi. He came out with a Bachelor of Laws in 1977 and later a Master’s degree.
They are above 65 years
Raila, a former Prime Minister is aged 72 while Maraga is 66 years old
They will serve for one term in different capacities (Chief justice/President)
The retirement age of a Chief Justice is 70. This means that he will serve for one term. Raila has also promised to serve for one term as a president if he wins.
