The National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders have vowed not to back down in their push to have opposition leader Raila Odinga sworn in.
The swearing-in ceremony is expected to be held at Nairobi's Uhuru Park on January 30, 2017.
After taking the oath of office as the 'people's president', NASA insiders report, Raila's first assignment will be to launch the people's convention.
"After the swearing-in, NASA will ask our supporters to occupy Uhuru Park after the ceremony beyond January 30 so that they can launch the people's convention within Nairobi before going back to their counties," a source told the Standard.
Raila will then embark on plans to form a rival government, including a cabinet, to stand up against the 'illegitimate' administration of President Uhuru Kenyatta, said NASA Chief Executive Officer Norman Magaya.
"We want our supporters to witness as we form a government by naming the cabinet and other constitutional offices immediately after swearing in our leaders,” Magaya said.
In an interview with VOA on Tuesday, the former Prime Minister said he was determined to form his government after his swearing-in ceremony.
"We will work just like any other government. We will form a cabinet. We can even be a government in exile- one that runs from outside the country. It has happened in other countries," Raila said.
