Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was honored to address the 5th annual Devolution Conference following an invitation by the Council of Governors.
The event kicked off in Kakamega on Tuesday, April 24, bringing together delegates from across the 47 counties.
Odinga was present during the second day of the event where he said devolution has always been very close to his heart.
He said it was encouraging that Kenyans were starting to receive enhanced services as a result of the devolved system of governance. He however lamented that corruption was killing devolution.
"I urge the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to conduct lifestyle audits on county officials," he said.
Together with relevant stakeholders the opposition leader said leaders shall continue the push to ensure that the interests of ordinary citizens are prioritized and that the two levels of government work in synergy as was envisaged by the constitution for the benefit of the people
