When Wiper leader and Cord co-principal Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka was crowned the African Dignitary Man of the year 2016, he led his supporters to claim that he deserves to be Cord’s flag bearer.

Apparently, Kalonzo’s joy became short-lived after the former prime minister trounced the likes of Rwanda’s President Kagame to emerge as the Most Influential African in World. 

If you understand now what Kagame has done for the people of Rwanda you understand why Kalonzo is likely to have sleepless nights. 

There is a very thin line between power and influence. Emerging as the best out of 68 men and 32 women from different parties of the continent is not easy. According to the sources, he scored 98 marks out of the possible 100 marks. 

The Cord leader lost 2 marks for his alleged involvement in attempting to overthrow President Moi in the 1982 coup and failure to resolve the 2008 Post-election Violence (PEV). 

This award is likely to win the former prime minister more votes than what Kalonzo will garner for being African Dignitary Man of the year 2016. 

One of the greatest problems facing Kenya is tribalism. The former prime minister was awarded the crown because of his ability to unite the 42 Kenyan tribes and undying desire to fight for democracy. 

The other leaders who could not stand between Raila and the Award included Nigeria’s president Buhari.
