The increase in fuel pump pricing is set to hit local consumers hard, considering the political environment that has equally affected businesses.
In the latest pump pricing guide released on Tuesday, a liter of kerosene will go up by Sh5.05.
This upward trajectory means kerosene will retail at Sh71.23 per litre in Nairobi for the next one month.
This will be a major blow to many low-income earners in most households, who use kerosene for cooking and lighting.
The increase is the highest retail price for the fuel in close to three years, with such prices last seen towards the end of 2014 when it retailed at Sh72 in December of that year.
The latest review by the Energy Regulatory Commission also sees super petrol and diesel prices go up, with Super rising Sh1.03 and diesel going up by Sh3.70.
Diesel will retail at Sh92.41 per litre, and will affect functions in most industries and other manufacturing firms which mainly use diesel in their operations.
A litre of super petrol in Nairobi will now retail at Sh102.7, up from Sh98.3 in October.
