The national government will utilise Sh70 billion to construct roads in Mombasa County in the next three years, Deputy President William Ruto had said.

Ruto affirmed that the government was striving  for equitable development for all, including coast residents who have been decrying isolation from various governments ever since independence. 

Ruto who commissioned the Jomvu Kuu- Rabai Road on Friday, led peace and unity campaigns during the event in Jomvu constituency.

"Let us be defined by tangible results, unity of purpose and less talk," he noted, adding that the people of coast would not be discriminated in terms of development.

He said Jubilee administration would ensure equitable distribution of jobs and projects.

Several opposition MPs including Nyali MP (independent) Mohammed Ali and local leaders were also present during the commissioning exercise on Friday.
