Secession calls have filled the political atmosphere in Kenya recently following the enormous political difference among the citizens of this great nation.Secession, described as a withdrawal of a group or section from a larger entity, the main political entity has manifested its signs after coastal governors Joho and Kingi, and other leaders from Nyanza and Western parts of the country banked on the idea.Politics in Kenya today is tribal based. Communities seem to adhere to political bodies headed by members of their community and not the benefits the parties bring to the entire country.Kenya at this point is not far from the finish line after which secession begins, the race towards secession is swift and is sufficiently fueled by ethnicity. Every leader thinks he's the best and their supporters who happen to be mainly from their communities think they (their leaders) are the best.Secession would mean the division of economy, resources, national strength, unity among others. Division of all these key aspects of the existence of a nation definitely kills the powerful nature of the nation.A divided nation is a dead nation, a united nation is a strong nation. Why then should Kenya be divided because of ethnicity and tribal politics? Is Kenya the first nation to experience this political condition? No. It is time Kenyans should start reviewing with maximum wisdom, the benefits of the freedom of 'multipartyism' encoded in the promulgated Kenyan constitution.President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Opposition chief Raila Odinga should at all costs defend Kenya against secession because it is not the best for this country, and the politicians calling for secession should sit down and rethink the effects of secession before making crucial moves.
