A section of Kenyans have expressed mixed reactions after a train laden with 250,000 litres of super petrol came off the rails minutes to midnight on Saturday and overturned in Changamwe.
A heavy police contingent was deployed to keep motorists and pedestrians away from a section of the Makupa Causeway following the accident that also affected operations on Sunday.
Below are reactions from social media users:

Kwani what do kids learn in high school geography nowadays?? Sea is part of ocean that protrudes into the land, or part of ocean partially surrounded by land. The makupa section of Indian Ocean can therefore be correctly referred to as sea 😊.

The old railway lines are no longer maintained, it has been years since reasonable repairs are done. The stretch between Mombasa island through makupa causeway and a long kibarani dump site has been in wanting condition for long more than enough time. With the recent heavy rains all over the country and substantial amount in the old coastal town, it is most likely the neglected line passing along the causeway would no longer bear the weight of the carriages. "Punda amechoka" Being a "reactive" nation, precaution is always at the bottom of the list of priorities. Don't forget to remember that there are so many people who are paid thousands of shillings using tax payer's money and whose job descriptions include ensuring the safety of the transport systems.

I always say makupa course way (Kibarani) is the connection road in Mombasa n imagine that's also the damping sight, I think the garbage might have been the reason of this derail.
