Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has shocked many by nominating self-proclaimed National Resistance (NRM) general and lawyer Miguna Miguna to be his deputy. This will shake both political heavyweights. One of the biggest losers is Head of State Uhuru Kenyatta.
The outspoken governor delivered his shocker via a letter to the Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi. According to Sonko, Miguna Miguna meets all the requirements provided for in the constitution.
This puts the president and entire government in another mess about explaining why Miguna should not be allowed to deputize Sonko as well as be a Kenyan citizen. The president has an uphill task dealing with this move after Sonko was directed to nominate a deputy. Nairobi is the face of Kenya and Uhuru must calm Sonko or mess the capital, which in turn will mess his legacy that is pinned on the Big Four Agenda.
Raila Odinga will also have a rough time explaining his silence to the man who swore him in as the People's President. this is one of the main reasons Miguna Miguina was deported.
There was drama at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport when former Sonko’s competitor Miguna Miguna was denied entry into the country. This forced several high profile individuals to intervene including the former Prime Minister Rt Raila Odinga and Businessman Jimmy Wanjigi. All was in vein as Miguna was deported.
Miguna will replace Polycarp Igathe if the government allows him back to Kenya. He has been a vocal critic of President Uhuru Kenyatta, DP William Ruto, former PM Raila Odinga and surprisingly Governor Mike Sonko.
