Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa has promised to serve his constituents with 'honour and dedication' after he became the first MP to be 'elected' unopposed into the 12th Parliament.

Ichung'wa who will be serving his second term, is the only candidate listed for the Kikuyu MP seat in a gazette notice published by the IEBC on Tuesday.

"All glory and honour to the Almighty Lord. I feel Blessed of the Lord and honoured by you all. To you my people, I will serve you with honour, dedication and renewed vigour, for in serving you faithfully, I serve my God and fulfil his wish and purpose of my life. God's Blessings to you all. God Bless Kenya," Ichung'wa wrote on his Facebook account on Tuesday evening.

The vocal Kikuyu MP was elected on the now defunct TNA party ticket in 2013 and was seeking for re-election under the new Jubilee party ticket.

The 40-year-old MP studied at Strathmore’s school of Accounting and graduated from the University of Nairobi with a degree in Economics and has served as vice chair of the Public Investments Committee (PIC) in Parliament.

Ichung'wa was also a member of the committee of Powers and Privileges and the Departmental Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives in the 11th parliament.

He is Governor William Kabogo's main critic and is rumoured to be eyeing the Kiambu gubernatorial seat in 2022.
