[Photo: Citizen Digital]The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) Chairperson Sarah Serem on Monday announced the slashing of the pay of top government officials.Speaking in Upperhill, Nairobi, Serem announced that the president’s monthly gross will now be Sh1.4 million from Sh1.6m while that of the DP will now be Sh1,227,188.The salaries for Cabinet Secretaries will be Sh924,000 while the salaries of Speakers of both houses have been reduced to Sh1,155,00. Governors will now earn a salary of Sh924,000.The SRC also scrapped sitting allowances for MPs and mileage claims in a bid to cut on the public wage bill as it announces new pay structure for civil servants.
