The push by Nation Super Alliance (NASA) to have Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka sworn in has gained momentum, with a rally planned for Sunday in Western.

The two opposition leaders will ‘take oath of office’ at the end of the month, with a series of rallies in the lead up to the big day.

The Opposition coalition has vowed not to recognize President Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidency, instead choosing to set up their parallel administration.

The coalition, during a meeting at their Okoa Kenya offices, said they have put in place a committee to oversee the process.

Odinga will lead other leaders in the coalition to Kakamega on Sunday, where they are expected to lead a people’s assembly meeting that will bring together Vihiga, Busia, Kakamega and Trans Nzoia Counties.

He is also expected to unveil the team that will run the programme, including organizing for meetings.

“This Sunday, we head to Western Kenya to continue with a people-driven initiative to ensure electoral justice and self-determination in our country. The details of the programme and nature of events to be held in Kakamega will be disclosed by the NASA leadership in Western Kenya,” Organising Committee of the People’s Assembly said in a statement.

The opposition chief is also expected to give a clear plan on the events before and during his swearing in, which is expected to take place at the Uhuru Park.

The Attorney General warned the leaders last year on their swearing-in plans, adding that such could be considered high treason, an offense punished by hanging.
