During the address, President Uhuru is expected to make several announcements.

The special sitting was announced in a joint Gazette notice by House Speakers Justin Muturi and Ken Lusaka.

According to the two Speakers, the meeting was convened in accordance with the Constitution which requires the President to open a newly elected Parliament.

During the session, President Kenyatta will address the issue of steps taken to realise national values and the progress made so far.

He is also expected to make pronouncements on how the government has fulfilled its international obligations and submit a report on the same.

The Head of State will also give a brief on the issue of expansion of the free maternal health care, introduction of free secondary school education and expansion of food and agriculture production.
