The county boss will have an uphill task convincing leaders and residents of different parts of the nation to rally behind him as he seeks to rise to the nation’s top seat.
The governor will also start becoming less popular in the country. The leadership of Wavinya Ndeti will have to prove that Mutua was not best for the people of Machakos through different means. The county boss will have it tough marketing his party across the country if he cannot win the governor’s seat.
On his part, Kalonzo will smile all the way home. The former vice president will be happier if NASA takes over power in August. The win of NASA at the national level and Ndeti at the county will mean that Mutua’s presidential dream will be as good as dead.
The county boss will have no choice but to retrace his political steps ahead of the 2022 elections. The governor has not been in good terms with Kalonzo, which is likely to make things tougher on his side.
