The seat will see a competition of two ruling parties as Ongwae will be looking for his reelection through ODM party while Chris Obure whose fate is still on the balance because he has not declared his preferred party.

By now the seat has attracted Senator Chris Obure who is affiliated with the Obomo Bwomogusii team, South Mugirango MP Manson Nyamweya, and incumbent Governor James Ongwae.

Kisii county is believed to be an ODM zone, but the situation will not be as normal since most ODM members have been campaigning for Jubilee Party.

Obure who was the chief campaigner of Governor Ongwae in 2013, has decided to go for the top seat come 2017 claiming that the incumbent leaders have failed the county in terms of development.

The competition is likely to be stiff as the two will try to challenge voters to support them using their scorecard.

Obure who has been in operating from the central government has said the county received  Sh32 billion in the last four years but nothing has been done with the money.

Ongwae on his side has said that the county has been able to develop and he needs a second term to complete the projects.

Now the question is who is fooling the voters, it is the Kisii voters to decide who will be their governor in 2017.
