President Uhuru Kenyatta is intending to remove presidential term limit and introduce a dictatorial system of governance should he be re-elected, Opposition MP has claimed.

Speaking during a NASA campaign rally in Siaya County on Friday, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi said President Uhuru is planning to use Jubilee numbers in Parliament to change the Constitution to allow him to be in power for a longer period.

"Uhuru has no legitimacy to lead this country and if by any chance he gets the mandate again, he will amend the Constitution from a two-term presidency to a dictatorial administration," Wandayi said, as quoted by the Standard.

The Constitution allows a president to serve a maximum of two five-year terms.

President Uhuru is expected to serve his final term in the country's top office if re-elected on the poll slated for October 17.

Wandayi thanked Nyanza residents for voting overwhelmingly for NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga and urged them to show the same support in the repeat poll next month.

"You should understand that President Uhuru Kenyatta is not a legitimate president and this is the reason you should come out in large numbers and vote for Raila," the MP urged.
