Rosa Buyu 'Dwasi' as she is commonly referred to is the current Woman Representative of Kisumu County after emerging victorious in the August 2017 polls.
She is the daughter of Kisumu business mogul the late Mzee Patrick Onyango Ochang, who was a close ally of the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
The legislator likes to refer to herself as 'dwasi' which in the Luo community means 'a female cow.' In the community, a female cow is seen as a source of blessings because people rely on it for milk.
The vocal lawmaker is married to Denis Randiak and they are blessed with three children.
Before venturing into politics, Buyu worked as a commissioner in the former Interim Independent Electoral and Boundaries Review Commission.
Buyu kick-started her political career in 2013 by vying for the Kisumu West parliamentary seat but lost to the incumbent Olago Aluoch.
She petitioned Olago's victory in court but her case was dismissed on grounds that she signed forms 35 which validated the results.
Following the loss, she was ordered to pay Olago a fine not exceeding Sh1.5 million.
In 2017, Buyu vied for the Woman Rep seat on an ODM ticket and won against Grace Akumu.
Her victory was challenged in court but the matter was dismissed on grounds that it lacked merit.
