Mohamed Faki is the Mombasa senator.
Faki was elected in last year’s general election on the Raila Odinga led orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.
The ODM senator replaced former Wiper Party secretary general Hassan Omar who unsuccessfully contested for the governor seat.
Faki, a lawyer by profession has however kept a low political life after his election.
A close ally of Mombasa governor Hassan Joho, Faki is poised among leaders to watch for in the 2022 general election.
According to political analysts, the senator is silent but in real sense is a serious political schemer.
“Senator Faki is among those politicians who rarely make political statements but have huge political influence,” Peter Ngure, a political pundit says.
The Mombasa senator in his campaign manifesto pledged to push for more budgetary allocation to Mombasa and other counties.
The senator also pledged to push for the fight against drug and substance abuse in Mombasa and Coast.
There are already speculations that Faki could bid for the Mombasa governor seat once Joho’s term ends in 2022.
