There are many women with Degrees, Masters and PhDs from this community. Dr. Jerono Phylis Rotich is one of the most respected scholars from this part of the country. 

Dr. Jerono is a professor at North Carolina A&T University. She has received several awards for her exemplary performance including Advisor of the year award and Voices Change Agent Award from North Carolina A&T University.

In 2015, she was presented with an award by the UNC board Governors alongside other 17 recipients for their great work. Dr. Jerono got her first Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education (Kenyatta University). 

Later on, she moved to the United States of America where she pursued Master’s Degree in the field of physical education (University of New York, Brockport). 

After completing her masters, she enrolled for a doctorate degree at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. She teaches different areas including health, safety and fitness.

She is also a great handball, soccer and hockey coach. Raised from a humble background, Dr. Rotich is a role model to Kalenjin girls who desire to attain high standards of education.
