According to a report by Jumia Business Intelligence and GSMA Mobile titled: White Paper 2017, 60 percent of the Kenyan population own a smartphone today.
This was highly attributed to ever growing market for affordable phones flowing into the country.
However, as the number of smartphones keeps on increasing, cases of phones being stolen has not been left behind though.
So what are you supposed to do when your phone gets lost or stolen? Many people tend to let it go and buy a new one, you are wrong.
Kindly do this three things when your Phone is lost.
One report the case to the nearest police station, two, report and three report.
You may be thinking am repeating my words but I am not, I mean you report and you should report.
Am going to share a true story with you that should be a learning lesson that reporting the case will come to set you free later.
My Mother lost her handbag that had her IDs, ATMs and phone. She reported the case and applied for another ID, notified the bank to disable the ATMs. The thugs used the ID to register a Safaricom line and Mpesa. The line was used to steal money from an Mpesa Agent in Eldoret totalling to Sh70,000.
On investigations, the banks' anti-fraud and CID officers pounced on my mother.
The money was stolen from an agent in Kitale and was summoned to travel to Kitale which she did.
To cut the story short, it’s a report she had made at Eldoret police Station that saved her from being charged and jailed. It’s that OB number that saved her thank God she had done the right thing to report.
Now that you know, ensure that you always report such cases to police to save yourself in future if crimes are committed using your credentials.
