Socialization is a life journey through which people gain and interact with values and social standards of definite society and culture. The major agents of socialization responsible for shaping socialization process of individuals include family, schools, peers, religion, media, workplace, your ethnic background, and political environment.
Our norms and values are molded by these agents of socialization as we interact with others. They also impact on our understandings and perceptions of our living environment and the global at a higher level. The level at which an agent impact on an individual is dependent on the stage of life, life experiences and personality.
School is the main socialization agent that has greatly impacted many lives in terms of perception, character and my environmental understanding. The ultimate goal of schooling is to gain professional knowledge and skills. Apart from learning, there is interaction with other students, teachers as well as institutional workers. Below are the major aspects of life we acquire from school.
Interaction with teachers enhances to gaining knowledge of basic intellectual skills including verbal expression, cognitive abilities, reading, and writing. We also learn different languages that have allowed me to communicate with others according to the setting of the society. We also gain knowledge of the culture as well as gender roles as perceived by our society.
Interaction with students helps us to know that we are part of the society, and we have vital roles in the complex system of the sovereign positions. They also play role in the shaping of morals and attitudes to the needs of present-day society. Through exchanging of different moral standards with school workers, we gain diversified means of taking care of ourselves as well as my society in many aspects including environmental cleaning, peacekeeping as well as developing my own society for the benefit of future generations.
