Before casting a vote for any leader, a few questions should linger. You look at his reputation, character and sense of discipline. But that is not enough. Your own selfish desires matter too. If you love agriculture, look at whether the politician can improve the agricultural sector that's of interest to you. How much should you sacrifice for a politician? This is an issue that keeps people deeply debating. Where do you draw the line between fighting for a cause and sycophancy? First of all, there's nothing wrong with activism. Rallying behind a cause is what has made a massive difference in this country. It is what made accomplishments like those of the late Wangari Maathai possible. So you need to analyze whether the cause you are fighting for is relevant or not. Ensure that the sacrifices you are making for a politician are your own and not their selfish interests wrapped up in candy and shoved down your throat. All I'm saying is that your interests are as important as the politician's. Don't hurt yourself or put yourself through physical or emotional suffering for a politician. Your desires matter too if not more.
