Local wheat farmers in Kenya are set to benefit from a newly constructed wheat mill in Thika town.
The privately owned fully automated mill has the capacity to process 300 tonnes of wheat daily.
The new mill which has the capacity to mill 300 tonnes per day will increase the firm’s total daily production capacity to 550 tons per day.
Grain miller Bakex Millers Limited firm’s managing director Hiten Shah says the new production capacity will promote efficiency as well as meeting local demand.
The firm has a current wheat storage capacity of 24,000 tons which it plans to increase to 42,000 tons by mid next year.
The new mill will also be able to produce semolina which is used in pasta, spaghetti and noodle manufacturing.
