Nyachae, who is currently undergoing treatment in the UK, would later win Nyaribari Chache parliamentary seat in 1992, two years after his ‘burial’.

Four angry politicians; Zachary Onyonka, David Onyancha, Andrew Omanga and Chris Obure, popularly known as 4Os, convened a meeting at Kebirigo in Nyamira.

The meeting was meant to bury Nyachae’d political aspirations before his actual decision to join the big game from civil service.

According to them, Nyachae had started undermining MPs from larger Gusii region by using his powerful connections with the presidency and that he had identified individuals to run in various constituencies.

In the rally that would later be dubbed as ‘Kebirigo Declaration’, the MPs condemned Nyachae, buried his effigy and sent a warning to President Daniel Moi, insisting that Nyachae was a persona non grata.

Later, Nyachae could control Gusii politics and even contest for presidency in 2002 when he finished a distant third after Uhuru Kenyatta and eventual winner Mwai Kibaki.
