Kenya received its second FIFA ban in two years when they were handed another indefinite ban for failing to comply with FIFA rules.
The ban was handed down on the 26th of October 2006 despite the country having served a similar ban in just over two years previous.
The country had defied orders to form an 18-team league and was running on two independent top flight leagues following wrangles that had ensued between FKF and KFF.
FIFA cited the country's non-compliance to resolve integrity issues in national competitions around the country.
The then Kenya Football Federation secretary general faulted FIFA for applying double standards by relying on information from local football officials to pass down the judgment.
The ban meant the country would not participate in any tournaments or competitions organized by FIFA until the requirements were met.
It also meant that Kenya would not participate in the Africa Cup of Nations that were to follow in the next few months.
At the time of the ban, Kenya had bred some of the finest talents in the region and the continent at large with the likes of Dennis Oliech, Musa Otieno, Zablon Amanakah, Emmanuel Ake, a young Mc Donald Mariga and the likes of Titus Mulama.
The ban affected most of their development and was an unnecessary stumbling block as they would not participate in any sporting activities organized by Fifa until the ban was lifted.
