Four Western belt governors, wowed the Kakamega football fans when they came together to support AFC Leopards over the weekend in their match against Fosa juniors from Madagascar.
The four were Busia County chief, Sospeter Ojaamong, Bungoma governor, Wycliffe Wangamati, Kakamega's Wycliffe Oparanya and Vihiga county chief Dr Wilber Ottichilo.
The four donned AFC Leopards jerseys as they cheered the team in their 1-1 draw.
AFC Leopards' failure to register a win at home against Fosa Juniors in the first leg of the Confederation Cup was, however, attributed to lack of at least two field marshals.
Former Treasurer Okiya Dindi who served under Chairman Mathew Opora said the team lacked mature players who could have turned the game against their opponents which they dominated.
"Coach Robert Matano should recruit two mature players during the mid window who are capable of changing the game at the hour of need. The current team is made up new players," Dindi said.
"Fans should give Matano at least two years to nurture the team and no doubt they will go places. What we need now is at least two field marshals."
Dindi said Gor Mahia performed well in their CAF Champions League encounter because they have been with the team for many years compared to new crop of players at Leopards.
