He was in charge of the national team beginning 1961.

He was in the dugout to oversee Kenya’s biggest ever losing margin in 1965.

The match to forget was played against Ghana in Nairobi and Bachelor watched his boys concede on 13 different occasions without a reply.

Ghana won that match 13-0.

He had been contacted just around five hours before kick off of the match against Ghana to take charge after previous coach had walked out on the team sensing defeat.

It was a painful day for the fans at the time even though most of them had not really gotten into football fanatics as football was not so popular.

His misfortunes extended to Zanzibar during CECAFA games when he had to be taken out of the dugout to a safer place after a fight erupted on a controversial refereeing decision.

The former coast province sports officer is in the archives and anals of history for both the good and the bitter.

On one hand, he was kenyas first ever coach while on the other, he is the only coach to have overseen a Kenyan side lose by double figures.
