Kenya’s biggest ever win in international football was a 10-0 demolition of the then little know Zanzibar.
The day to remember was on the 4th of October 1961.
Zanzibar had just broken away from mainland Tanzania and was in the process of stabilization as an independent nation.
The win remains to be Kenya’s biggest to date with several attempts already made to achieve the same feat but faltering and missing out narrowly.
At the time, Kenya was still under full British rule but would acquire partial self-rule two months later when Mzee Jomo Kenyatta became the country's first prime minister.
The renowned Harambee Stars have had their highs and lows with the most notable one being the 0-13 loss to Ghana on 12th December four years on.
Even though Zanzibar was rather weak per se and relied mainly on amateurish tactics at the time, much credit has to be given to the national team for executing the damage.
A replica of the same would be a welcome especially if such a match is for the qualification to a major tournament or at the tournament itself.
Next up is a qualifier match for the next edition of the Confederation of African football and it is a hope as well as a prayer that the long-lost glory days are brought back with a bang.
