Kenyan playmaker at the 1972 Africa Cup of Nations William Ouma was at one time accused of using witchcraft in football matches.
He was that good in that opposition that defenders wondered how the pacy Kenyan proved so hard to man and dispose of.
Ouma was witty and with a distinct eye for goal.
His shots from inside and outside the area were stinging and not many goalkeepers at the time had an idea of how to stop them.
As such, he found the back of the net at will and from any angle around the 18-yard area.
He scored so consistently for club and country and those who came up against him wondered how he could evade their watchful eye that easily.
At the 1972 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon, he was involved in all the goals scored by Kenya.
Kenya scored a goal in all of the three matches at the group stages of the 1972 showdown and it was his magic that opened up defenses and forced defenders into making mistakes and give away free kicks.
He was just mesmerizing to watch and would be compared to the Messis and Ronaldos of the modern-day game.
Defenders used to complain that there were times during the game that they could not see him.
He left a legacy in the game even though he did not score many goals during his career or win many trophies at national and club level.
