On September 2004, the current Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri was attending a harambee in aid of St John Secondary school.
Also in attendance was the then area MP Koigi wa Wamwere. Koigi and Ngunjiri had been perennial rivals and could not see eye to eye.
Ngunjiri was then in Kanu and had just received a humiliating defeat from Koigi, on a Narc ticket, during the 2002 poll.
When Ngunjiri was given a chance to speak, he went full throttle against his opponent and accused him of using area CDF for political mileage through harambee donations.
Breathing fire, Ngunjiri said he is a man who faced the knife and cannot be scared by anyone.
To the shock of those gracing the harambee, the Kanu man challenged Koigi to a physical duel.
Other leaders and elders cooled things down, but not for long. When it was eventually the turn of MP Koigi to speak, he also went full swing.
Koigi wondered where Ngunjiri could get the guts to speak on anything while his party Kanu was the mother of all evils eating the country.
A harsh critic of Moi, Koigi went after the old man who had been sent home embarrassingly after his 'project' Uhuru Kenyatta was beaten in the 2002 presidential race.
Ngunjiri could however not sit and witness anyone attack Mzee Moi.
He picked a walking stick and charged towards Koigi in the dais, Koigi clutched a soda bottle and gestured his opponent to go.
Damn, aides drew guns!Shocked members of the public scampered for safety as things became thick.
The drama lasted close to 40 minutes but things eventually cooled off!
