The death of Kenneth Matiba has evoked many memories to different people. Within the political class, Matiba will be mourned and remembered as the father of multiparty in Kenya.
That he faced retired president Daniel Moi at a time when doing so was tantamount to courting death puts him at the centre of Kenya's transition from one-party rule.
However, for me, as a small girl attending classes at St Mary's primary in Molo, the name Kenneth Matiba sunk into my head during an afternoon session.
Our GHC teacher, a Mr Nduati who we had nicknamed Ninja, had come for a revision of a past past paper.
Nduati, or Ninja, was going through the questions as we answered.
It was question 36 which asked who among the choices was opposition leader in 1992.
I raised my hand and shot up with Ken Matiba!
Ninja hated this, I got three strokes and told to say Kenneth!!
That is when the name Kenneth Matiba sunk into my small head, haha
