Upon his funeral in 2011 at Borabu, Ex-Kisii Mayor James Gisemba was described by his peers as the most 'comical human being on earth'.
During the funeral, former powerful minister Simon Nyachae caused a moment of laughter when he narrated best ordeals of the deceased Mayor, including his encounter with thieves.
"Gusii has lost a King, a man who had not boundaries. I remember when he ordered his wife Jane to cook for thieves not even once but in several occasions," he recalled.
He further said: "Not even Nyachae could do such a thing. I cannot dine with murderers and killers. He must have been special."
According to Jane, the wife to Gisemba, the former powerful Mayor created a good rapport including with his fierce critics.
At one point in Kisii, being comical as he was, he could not speak in national language when making a plea to President Daniel Moi, not because he wished to, only that he was illiterate!
