This can best be explained by former Subukia Member of Parliament Koigi Wa Wamwere who despite being famous in not only Nakuru county but the entire nation, landed with a thud in the Jubilee Party nominations preceding the August 8 general elections.

Having merged his Chama Cha Mwananchi party into the bigger President Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee Party in 2016, Wamwere was sure of making a political comeback after several years in the cold, eyeing to replace James Mungai as the Nakuru senator.

However, this was never to happen with the close opposition leader Raila Odinga ally suffering a historical defeat, garnering only 17 votes in a contest that was won by the then Nakuru County Assembly Speaker and incumbent Senator Susan Kihika who garnered 192, 596 votes.

In protest, the former legislator ditched the party for Odinga's National Super Alliance (NASA) alongside one-time Energy Minister Kirugi M'mukindia.

Koigi has since embarked on an anti-Jubilee campaign and is known for his condemnation and criticism of the Jubilee government, with the latest one being his recent attacks on Deputy President William Ruto whom he says is unfit for presidency should he vie in 2022.

He has since released a 10 point list as to why the DP should not be elected, openly declaring that he will not vote him.
