Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC) has adjusted the advance ticket booking window for Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) passenger train.
Those seeking to travel between Mombasa and Nairobi using Madaraka Express will from January 1, 2018, be required to book their tickets 30 days in advance.
Previously passengers were required to book 14 days in advance.
In a notice published on the corporation's Twitter handle, KRC Managing Director Atanas Maina said the change was geared towards streamlining the service, meeting the growing travel demands and improving customer experience.
"We are committed to continuously identifying and instituting measures that will meet the demands of the ever increasing customer base," Maina said.
Since the launch of the passenger service mid last year, the train has proved to be quite popular with travellers especially during holidays, with the train being fully booked during this festive season.
According to KRC statistics, approximately 660,601 passengers have used the train which operates between Nairobi and Mombasa while making seven stops along the SGR.
