Are you silently suffering in a relationship which feels like it is not working anymore? Are you confused whether it is over or it could have a future?
The following are the signs to tell you things are over and that you need to leave:
1. When you live more in past memories than the present
If you find yourself going back to past happy moments and wishing that the present could replicate that, it means the warmth in the relationship is gone. Your partner no longer makes you feel happy and therefore you will be doing yourself good if you left the earliest.
2. When your relationship brings more pain than joy to you
If every moment of your relationship brings you suffering, you need to think twice. In essence, an ideal relationship is supposed to reduce your burdens as there is someone to share and solve them together with. If this doesn't happen, it is time to call it quits.
3. When your partner demands that you change
There are things someone will be forced to accommodate in a new relationship to go on well with the partner. But is the partner demands that you change things core to your existance, perhaps it is time to quit. For instance, if your partner forces you to change religion, sense of fashion, weight etc, it means they no longer appreciate you for who you are. They want someone else that you are not. Leave.
4. When you find yourself staying on only with the hope that things will get better
Sometimes you find yourself staying on with the hope that your person will change. You are done with your partner's alcoholism, or petty theft or their lack of attention towards you. If you tried talking and it did not work, just move out.
5. When you keep justifying their actions to yourself
Your partner is just different. They disrespect your parents and don't want to see your family members. Then you stay there justifying them based on their upbringing. Everyday you rationalise their behaviour and says the reason they do it is because of blah blah. Simply that relationship will not do you any good. Leave.
6. When the same situation/issue recurs even though you tried addressing it
Once might be a coincidence. Twice, you might want to give another chance. But 3 times is a clear sign something is wrong.
If you caught him in a compromising situation with a girl and he apologised, and next time you catch him and he apologises, and then a third time, do you think he will change?
7. When they put little to no effort in the relationship
If your partner plays the passive role and does not show the will to participate in solving problems or planning for the future, they are no longer with you. If it is always you calling them to say hi, your partner is not into it.
