On May 24, former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga survived a lethal gun attack that left his five friends dead.
Maina was in a convoy of two vehicles heading to Laikipia from Nakuru.
Occupants who were in a small car trailing them sprayed his two cars with bullets.
Three men and two women were killed on the spot.
Maina survived by a whisker.
He blamed the attacks on police.
On the other hand, police said the attack was an internal war inside the Mungiki Empire.
On May 30, while nursing injuries, Maina called for a press conference.
He blamed the attack on the then ongoing cases which were facing Uhuru Kenyatta, Joshua Sang and William Ruto.
“There is one time honourable assistant minister for water Mr Waititu came to me and told me they have been talking to Mr Uhuru Kenyatta and he wanted me to write a statement that can support him when he goes to the ICC. I turned down the request,” Njenga said.
He added: “Waititu told me if I wanted to confirm that he had been sent by Mr Uhuru Kenyatta, he can call so that I talk to him. I personally talked to Kenyatta and told me he will settle part of my bill, but I refused everything,” Njenga said.
