Coast region is one of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Raila Odinga’s stronghold.
The region has over the year's remained loyal to the former Prime Minister.
In 2013 and 2017 general election, coast overwhelmingly voted for Odinga.
However some politicians who were once Raila’s allies are suffering in the political cold after betraying their once political master.
Here are the politicians who were once great allies of Odinga but are in the cold with no one to rescue their political careers.
1. Masoud Mwahima
He is the former Likoni Member of Parliament and among Coast veteran politicians.
He lost lost the Likoni seat to Mishi Mboko in last year’s general election.
Mwahima ditched Raila Odinga led ODM Party in 2016 and joined president Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.
The former MP is unlikely to make a comeback since the constituency is considered as an ODM zone.
He is among politicians who supported President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election and who are waiting for political reward.
2. Joyce Lay
She is the former Taita Taveta Woman Representative elected in 2013 on ODM ticket.
In the run to last year’s general election, Lay denounced ODM and joined Jubilee party.
Lay contested for the Taita Taveta senate seat but lost.
3. Zainab Chidzuga
She was elected Kwale woman representative in 2013 on Orange Democratic Movement party.
In 2015, Chidzuga fell out with the Orange party and joined President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.
In last year’s general election, Chidzuga lost re-election to Zuleikha Juma of ODM.
Chidzuga is likely to be rewardedc for supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election.
4. Dan Mwazo
He was elected Taita Taveta senator on ODM ticket in 2013.
Mwazo, a close ally of Raila Odinga however, decamped from ODM and joined Jubilee in the run to the last year’s polls.
He contested for the Taita Taveta governor seat on Jubilee ticket losing and lost.
