Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua is walking a tightrope after the Appellant Court nullified his Agust 8, 2017 election's victory on Friday.
Mutua will be more wounded if the Supreme Court upholds the ruling.
The governor has been very vocal when it comes to matters of national interest.
Could the county boss be a victim of circumstance?
Recently, Mutua called for a lifestyle audit to all senior government officers and officials.
To some Kenyans, the governor was targeting certain powerful individuals in the government as he seeks to clear his way ahead of 2022.
“Those stealing are near you and are maligning your name through their actions. Deal with them ruthlessly and show Kenyans there are no sacred cows in your administration,” Mutua told President Kenyatta last month.
As leaders from both the opposition and government were busy exchanging handshakes from the county to the national level, Mutua was pushing for the auditing of the lives of senior officials.
The fall out between Mutua and Kalonzo has been reignited.
The two leaders have been known not to see each other face to face unless circumstances force them to do so.
If Mutua does not manage to win the case against former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti in court, then he should prepare to face Kalonzo’s side.
