Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has shocked many when he disclosed where he seeks medication whenever he gets ill.
The most admired governor revealed that he always seek treatment at local public hospitals within the county.
"I go to hospitals here, when I fall sick I go to the level hour hospital," Kibwana said.
Kibwana spoke during Health Workers Excellence Award in the county held at Kwakathoka in Makueni County on Friday.
The ceremony was held to honor medical staff in Makueni who had performed well in the implementation of various health programs in their departments.
Kibwana, unlike many high profile politicians in the country who seek medication outside the country, narrated how he at one point underwent a successful slight operation at the Makueni Level Four Hospital.
Lauding the public hospitals in the county, the governor noted that improved health services in public health facilities in the county has made many people trust the facilities.
He said most of the Makueni County staff also seek treatment at the public health facilities.
"Many of our staff also go to our public hospitals here in Makueni despite having enrolled in various medical schemes," Kibwana said.
Kibwana noted that implementation of the universal health care has improved health system in the county thereby benefiting the locals.
He urged Makueni residents to register with both the county universal health care and NHIF so as to get cheap and quality health services whenever they fall ill.
