The once tough talking long serving  former Cabinet Minister commonly knonw as 'Zipapa' has remained politically silent, a situation that is worrying his supporters.

Mwakwere who lost in 2013 and 2017 Kwale gubernatorial election has struggled to remain politically active and relevant.

The once ODM leader Raila Odinga's close political ally and confidant is fighting for political survival.

Mwakwere who resigned as Kenya's Ambassador to Tanzania in the run up to last year's general election might not make it back to active politics, political analyst Peter Ngure says.

Ngure notes  that  the former Minister no longer has political influence and that the best option for him is to quit politics.

"Mawkere might not make it to active politics because he no longer appeals the way he used to few year's ago," Ngure said in an interview on Wednesday.

The  political analyst said that Mwakwere killed his own political career when he fell out with opposition leader Raila Odinga prior to the 2013 general election.

The former Cabinet Minister bid to resuscitate his political career suffered a blow on Wednesday after the court of appeal dismissed his appeal questioning High court decision to throw out the petition he had  lodged against governor Salim Mvurya's re-election.

Makwere's political fate now hangs in the balance even as claims emerge that he could once again bid for the Kwale top seat in 2022.

Governor Mvurya is serving his last term and has endorsed her deputy Fatima Achani for the top seat in 2022.
